A BRIGHTSPACE
MINUTE

The focus of this Brightspace Minute is the tool for
getting an easy overview of student coursework.

November 16: CLASS PROGRESS TOOL

Found under Grades & Feedback, the Class Progress tool goes further than the Gradebook. While it similarly shows overall grade status for each student, it also displays graphical data for each grade they've earned, and it gives you a quick look at what content they've engaged with. When you first open the tool, you'll see four columns:

NOTE: These columns can be replaced, if desired.

5 Tips for Using Class Progress

Do you...

  1. ...want to change columns on display?
Go to "Settings" (top right) to modify which data sets appear in these 4 columns by clicking on the down-arrow next to any category and choosing "Replace."
  2. ...want to look more closely at how a specific student is doing?
Click their name to see all their available data.
  3. ...want to know what the graph bars mean?
Hover over any bar in a student's graph to see the item name and grade, e.g. Quiz 4, 10/12 83%
  4. ...want to communicate with a student about how they're doing?
Hover over the profile image for a student to send them an email, or click "Use agents to automate feedback" to open the Intelligent Agents dashboard. (See last week's Brightspace Minute about Intelligent Agents.)
  5. ...want to view by groups?
Click "Filter to All Users" (top left) to switch to group views. To view full roster again, click the same button and choose "All Users."

NOTE: Students have access to this tool, too, but they see only their own data. To learn more about the student's view of this tool, refer to the March 10 Brightspace Minute.
