In this Brightspace Minute, we focus on getting ready for the semester.

January 9, 2024: Getting Your Course Spaces Ready

1. Find your courses – On the Brightspace landing page, you can filter the courses you want to see, or view all.
• Sandboxes: Workspaces that you can use to experiment or build a whole course that can be moved later. Sandboxes will never have students enrolled.
• Migrated: Courses moved from Blackboard which will never have students enrolled.
• Spring 24: These will have students enrolled, but will need to be activated for them to have access.
• Be sure to pin your current courses to make them easy to find.
2. Move course content. Copy all (or some) content from another course space such as a previous semester's course, migrated course, or sandbox. See the UVM Knowledge Base article, Copy One Course to Another.
3. Activate your course. This means opening it to students. By default, new courses are closed, or inactive. See instructions here.
4. Manage Dates. Brightspace has a couple of options for changing dates throughout the course. See this UVM Knowledge Base article, Brightspace - Bulk Manage Dates.
